Amazon has announced Alexa+, a major upgrade to its voice assistant powered by generative AI. The new version aims for more natural conversations, better reasoning, and deeper integration with Amazon services and smart home devices.
Smarter conversations
Alexa+ can handle follow-up questions, remember context across sessions, and complete multi-step requests. For example, users can ask it to plan a dinner party, create a shopping list, and send invitations without repeating details.
Personalization
The assistant learns user preferences over time, such as preferred music, news sources, and shopping habits. Amazon says personalization is optional and manageable through privacy settings.
Pricing
Alexa+ will be included with Amazon Prime on supported devices. Older Echo devices may not receive the full upgrade due to hardware limitations.
